As our first ‘in person’ talk in over two years, IGPS Leinster is delighted to have Stephen Butler discuss his experience as the former Curator of Horticulture at Dublin Zoo as well as his new book, Gardening for Gorillas.

For 37 years, Stephen Butler worked in Dublin Zoo as its horticulturalist transforming concrete areas and expansive lawns for habitats that worked for both animals and visitors alike. While many of us have to deal with slugs or snails in our gardens, Stephen Butler find plants that much bigger mouths would avoid while at the same time not harm them and be aesthetically pleasing. No mean feat! In 2001 a masterplan was designed: out went straight lines; in came the winding trails we enjoy today. Join us to listen, be educated and entertained by this esteemed gardener’s trials, successes and failures.

Signed copies of Stephen’s book ‘Gardening for Gorillas’ will be on sale on the day, priced at €35. There is a Book Review on IGPS website.

For more information about the book see: https://www.gardeningforgorillas.com/

Tickets are free but places limited to 140 so registration is advisable.

The book costs €35; cash preferred but card payments accepted.
