About this event
Divided into a series of rooms, owner Paula will lead us on a journey from the poppy garden, cottage garden and rose garden to the latest room, a serenity garden with a circular pool. A mown path leads to a cut flower garden.

Plants to note are the grasses, ferns, agapanthus and David Austen roses along with trees such as aralias, magnolias, cornus and a selection of prunus including P. Hai-taku and Shirotae.

Paula and her husband Thomas built Kilgar in 2007. The garden started with planting boundary hedges and using old iron railings. Then 2 small gardens were added at the side of the house, the rest was lawn used as a football pitch for their two sons. Today, this area is divided into individual gardens designed, planted and maintained by Paula. A trained florist with a background in interior design, Paula uses scale, proportion, focal points, structure and planting combinations to effect.

Refreshments will be served on our visit. Parking at the gardens. Please wear suitable footwear for your visit.

KiIgar is an oasis of calm leading from the formal to more naturalistic planting with views extending to the Meath countryside beyond. A must see!
