Anemone nemerosa 'Lucy's Wood' (3)

This private garden is set in a mature, deciduous woodland in a bend of the river Mattock, near the historic Mellifont Abbey. There are roughly 7 acres of landscaped woodland, including a sheltered ravine featuring Rhododendrons, Bamboo, Magnolias, Ferns, Hostas, Hellebores and many other woodland plants and bulbs. There are paths and rustic steps throughout this part of the garden. There is also an ‘upper’ woodland, which consists of large swathes of planting with hoggin paths meandering in between. The main features here are mass plantings of Hostas, Ferns, Epimediums, Irises, Pachypragma and more.  There is also an area of Yew clipped into shapes, and another area with topiary box, including hens and spirals. Tea and coffee will be served in the owner’s house, once upon a time used to bleach linen, and plants from a local nursery will be available for sale.

Numbers for this visit will be restricted, so please book early!

Cheques, if desired, may be posted to Ricky Shannon, 48 Sydney Avenue, Blackrock, Co. Dublin

Ample parking. There is a one-way parking system in operation.
