Since 2012, the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, as part of its on-going Rural Development Project, has launched a renovation programme to bring its existing aged orchards back into good fruit production and to create an attractive traditional farm feature for our visitors to walk through and enjoy.
Why not join our gardening team, together with our expert, Mr Graeme Cross, DARD’s top fruit advisor, as they undertake the latest round of pruning and tree shaping before the start of the growing season? You can ask any questions about the care and management of new and established fruit trees, and even gain some practical experience to apply in your own garden.
Topics covered will include:
• Assessing your tree’s health
• Pruning techniques
• Nutrition (fertilisers and feeding)
• Pest and disease control for quality crops
Any questions on this event to Andrew or myself.
