A visit to Mount Usher Gardens – with guided tour – preceded by lunch at Hunter’s Lodge Hotel.
Described as one of the great gardens of the world, Mount Usher is laid out over 22 acres along the River Varty. It is a Robinsonian style garden with over 5,000 plant species, many rare and exotic. Autumn, the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, sees the acers come into their splendid glory. Watch out too for Liquidambar styraciflua. Our guided tour of the gardens begins at 2.30p.m.and will last about 90 minutes.
Preceding our guided tour of Mount Usher, we will enjoy lunch at Hunter’s Hotel. A former coaching inn, this family-run lodging dates back to the 18th century and is set in 2 acres of landscaped gardens next to the River Vartry and only 2.5 km from Mount Usher Gardens. Lunch will be served at 12.30 but we suggest you arrive earlier to allow yourself time to explore the gardens.
Cheques, if desired, may be posted to Ricky Shannon, 48 Sydney Avenue, Blackrock, Co. Dublin
