SATURDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER 2020
BT9 SOUTH BELFAST GARDEN RAMBLE
This is a rare opportunity to visit three very different town gardens, all in close proximity in BT9, South Belfast, and all owned by members of the IGPS.
All tickets for this event must be pre-booked through Eventbrite before 1st September 2020.
ONLY MEMBERS WHO HAVE PAID THEIR 2020/21 MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTION CAN ATTEND.
This visit is free to members. One personal guest allowed per member at a cost of £5 plus Eventbrite fee.
THE GARDENS
The first combines an imaginative and colourful planting of perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees designed to crescendo in late summer (see below). A new shade border is under development.
In the second garden (below) planting areas are maximised by the clever use of levels and contours. It has an eclectic mix of shrubs, herbaceous plants and climbers with a semi-circular pergola extending outwards in two directions, giving structure to the garden and enhancing the space.
The third garden (see below), the largest, features varied and colour-themed planting schemes and a growing collection of Irish plants which, together with the mature trees and formal and informal features, brings a country house garden vibe to the city.
THE ITINERARY
Pre-booking on Eventbrite is essential for this event.
ONLY MEMBERS WHO HAVE PAID THEIR 2020/21 MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTION CAN ATTEND.
This visit is free to members. One personal guest allowed per member at a cost of £5 plus Eventbrite fee.
Because of the size of two of the gardens, numbers are strictly limited to 10 places per visit.
There will be a choice of times on Eventbrite from which to start your visit to the three gardens. You only need to book one time slot to visit all three gardens. You will start the visits by signing in at the first garden at the time you have booked. A visit to a garden will last a maximum of 45 minutes before you move to the next garden. Gardens will be visited in a sequence and you must strictly adhere to this (i.e. you must sign in at the first garden and visit it first and you cannot visit the third garden without having visited the second garden).
On Eventbrite, the available time slots to book for a visit to the three gardens are:
Starting 10:00 am at the first garden on Saturday 5th September (10 places available)
Starting 10:45 am at the first garden on Saturday 5th September (10 places available)
Starting 11:30 am at the first garden on Saturday 5th September (10 places available)
Starting 12:45 pm at the first garden on Saturday 5th September (10 places available)
Starting 1:30 pm at the first garden on Saturday 5th September (10 places available)
Starting 2:15 pm at the first garden on Saturday 5th September (10 places available)
Details of the address of the first garden will be emailed out to those who have successfully booked a starting time slot for the event.
The order for visiting the other two gardens, together with the addresses and directions will be given to you when signing in at the first garden.
Because of the limited number of places available and the smaller size of two of the gardens, anyone who turns up without having pre-booked will be turned away.
