This year, the IGPS will be returning to the wonderful estate of Tullynally Castle for our Autumn event. We have arranged to have a guided tour of the magnificent grounds. Many of the trees in Tullynally are remarkable for their age and exotic origins. Owner and author, Thomas Packenham, paid tribute to these specimens in his best selling book, Meetings with Remarkable Trees. On our tour we will see native trees as well as those from Europe and the Americas. This time of year will allow us to admire these trees in their golden Autumn colour . As Tullynally is closed to the public at this time of year, this is a very special opportunity for us gardeners to appreciate these trees.
The castle is situated in the centre of Ireland, 1.5 km outside Castlepollard on the Granard Road – signposted R395. 20 km from Mullingar and 80 km from Dublin.
Arrival: 1.00 -1.15pm for Guided Tour of Gardens 1.30 p.m. The tour should last about 90 minutes.
Cost to include admission and guided tour will be €15 for members and €20 for non-members. Numbers are limited to 40 places so early booking is advised.
