A rare treat for members of the Irish Garden Plant Society. A tour of the gardens of the home of the President of the Republic of Ireland. The extensive, mature gardens at Áras an Uachtaráinhost an extensive dahlia collection and September is the perfect time to see them at their best. The Dahlia bed was designed by the well-known Irish nurseryman, Christopher White, and includes many Irish cultivars such as D. John Markham and D.Aggie White. But it’s not just about dahlias: we will visit other parts of the 130 acre garden including the Victorian formal gardens, and the award winning vegetables garden. Arrangements
A coach will depart from the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre at 10.50 to take us directly into Áras an Uachtaráin. The tour of the gardens will last 1 hour 30 minutes approximately. There is a €10 charge for the coach which will be collected on the day. The tour of the gardens is free.
There is plenty of parking at the Visitor Centre and you might like to avail of tea/coffee at their café. Adjacent to the Visitor Centre is a superb Victorian Walled Garden which supplies food to the cafe. Tours of the Walled Garden by some of the gardeners are open to the public and will be held at 12.30 after our tour, if you wish to join in. Also in the Phoenix Park is Farmleigh House, the State’s B&B, well worth a visit .

Small bags and cameras permitted but no rucksacks please.
